HD Local Channels added in Grand Rapids and Memphis

DISH Network keeps adding more and more local HD channels! This time, the 2 new channels will launch in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Memphis, Tennessee on June 26th. This brings DISH's HD local network total to 61, covering 68% of U.S. TV households.

As part of DISH Network's goal to provide 100 HD local networks by the end of the year, dozens more channels will launch this summer. So stay tuned!

DISH Features Summer Flick ... Before It Hits Theaters

Movie fans can now catch the latest flick before it hits the movie screen.

On Friday, June 13th, DISH Network's pay-per-view and on-demand services began offering customers a sneak preview of "Finding Amanda" two weeks prior to its theatrical release. The movie, starring Matthew Broderick, Maura Tierney and Brittany Snow, was made available to DISH Network through an agreement with Magnolia Pictures and HDNet.

Through June 26, DISH Network subscribers can order the film in standard definition pay-per-view for $9.99 and through on-demand in standard definition for $10.99. "Finding Amanda" is available via on-demand in high-def for $11.99. After theatrical release, the film will be available from June 27-30 in standard definition pay-per-view for $6.99.

DISH Network Adds HD Signals for Tribune Local Stations

DISH Network keeps adding more High-Definition programming! This week, DISH Network is adding HD signals for Tribune-owned local stations in four markets. The stations are: KCPQ (Fox station in Seattle); WPIX (CW station in New York); WGN-TV (CW station in Chicago); and KTXL (Fox station in Sacramento, California.)

The channel additions, including WGN America HD as mentioned in my last post, are part of a larger carriage agreement between Dish Network and Tribune, which also includes local HD signals for 23 Tribune stations in 19 markets.

Dish Network, ESPN Team Up to Deliver the U.S. Open Golf Championships

DISH Network Adds WGN America HD

Instead of going "out to the ballgame," Cubs and White Sox fans can enjoy HD broadcasts at home on WGN America, the latest addition to DISH Network's lineup of HD channels.

DISH Network's CEO, Charlie Ergen, announced last night that DISH would add add WGN America HD this week.

WGN America, which is now available in standard-def on DISH Network, offers high-def broadcasts of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. The network also airs local news programs featuring Chicago and syndicated repeats such as 24 and Nash Bridges.
