On February 1, Dish Network unveiled a new promotion that no longer requires approved credit customers to pay a $49.99 activation fee at time of order. With no equipment charges and free standard professional installation, a new, residential subscriber can get set up with satellite tv service in as little as 48 hours with no upfront costs. Customers must pass a credit check and have a major credit or debit card, for verification purposes, to be able to order the free 4 room satellite system.
In addition to the elimination of the activation fee, Dish also introduced some new options when it comes to high definition programming. The new DishHD package offers customers a way to get 40 HD channels, including popular channels such as ESPN and National Geographic as well as 15 VOOM HD channels for just $29.99/month. For the first time, this is a standalone package and does not require the customer to purchase any additional programming. If standard, digital programming is also wanted, a Customer can also add the DishHD Essential package to any America's Top basic programming package for an additional $10 a month. This will provide the customer with between 20 and 24 HD channels, depending on which basic programming package they choose, in addition to the digital channels offered in that package.
Dish Network also continued their promotion which will give a customer a free High Def DVR receiver upgrade, which will allow them to pause, record and rewind live HD television. A $5.98/month DVR fee applies and will allow the customer to record shows on 2 televisions at the same time, one room in standard definition and one room in high definition.
